Terms of sale

Draft of 4 October 2026. RibbonKeys is not on sale yet, and these terms are not final.

These terms apply to buying and using RibbonKeys, an app for macOS that puts letters over Excel's ribbon so that you can press its buttons from the keyboard, provided by a sole proprietorship based in the Netherlands. By buying a licence, you agree to these terms.

The product

RibbonKeys is free for 7 days from the first time you open it. The trial asks for no payment details and ends by itself: after it the letters are switched off until you buy a licence. There are two:

Payment

Licences are bought on a checkout page in your browser, which is provided by RevenueCat and on which Stripe processes the payment. The applicable price, term and renewal conditions are shown there before confirmation. By confirming a monthly subscription, you authorise the payment provider to make recurring charges. If a payment fails, we may temporarily suspend the licence.

Cancelling a subscription

You can cancel at any time: in RibbonKeys under Licence… with Manage Subscription…, or through the link in the e-mails about your purchase. The subscription then runs to the end of the month you have paid for and stops. Nothing is charged after that.

Right of withdrawal

If you buy as a consumer, and not for a business or profession, the law gives you 14 days from the purchase to withdraw from it without giving a reason. To do so, tell us within those 14 days, for example by writing to [email protected] from the e-mail address you paid with; a plain message is enough. We then refund what you paid within 14 days, by the means of payment you used, and the licence ends.

Apart from that, payments are not refunded. This does not take away the rights the law gives you when something you bought does not work as promised.

Fair use

A licence is intended for the Macs you use yourself. Your licence code stands for your purchase: do not publish it or pass it on. We may suspend or end a licence in cases of abuse.

Availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep RibbonKeys working with the current versions of macOS and Excel, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. RibbonKeys works by reading Excel's ribbon: when an update of Excel changes the ribbon, letters can be missing or wrong until RibbonKeys has been updated too. It needs macOS 13 or later, Excel for Mac set to English (United Kingdom), and the Accessibility permission of macOS.

Liability

Our liability for losses arising from the use of RibbonKeys is limited to the amount you paid for RibbonKeys in the twelve months preceding the event that caused the loss. We are not liable for indirect loss, consequential loss or loss of profit.

Your responsibility

RibbonKeys is a tool that presses buttons in Excel for you. You remain responsible for your workbooks: look at what it did, as you would after your own key presses, and keep copies of work that matters.

Privacy

What RibbonKeys reads and what it sends is described under Privacy.

Changes

We may update these terms to reflect changes in legislation, regulation or the product. We notify you in advance of material changes, for example by email. Continued use of RibbonKeys after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms and the agreement between you and the seller of RibbonKeys are governed by Dutch law.
